St Johns United Methodist Church Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors
Gwen Brown, Church Secretary

It is my goal to give my best to others and provide outstanding administrative support to keep the congregation of St. John’s informed. I am the “go-to” person for listing activities on the church calendar, the web page, newsletter, bulletins and other communication needs of the church.  I am also the membership secretary for the church.  Any concerns or questions concerning scheduling activities or membership needs may be addressed to me.  I hope to further God’s plan for St. John’s.

Lydia Bolmer, Church Organist/Musician

My mission is to support all of the church’s musical activities with good accompaniment on the organ or the piano.  I help to lead the congregational singing, and accompany the choir, as well as various soloists assisting in worship from time-to-time. It is my wish to help all who come to worship to have a meaningful worship experience.

Lloyd Eubanks, Director of Music

I have been directing music at St. John’s for over 27 years. I hold a BA in Church Music with a minor in Christian Education from Asbury University.  I also hold a Masters from High Point University.  We use Music Ministry to generate excitement, beauty, and inspiration in our services of worship. The choral program is intended to nurture those involved and to give a means of contributing in worship, outreach, and praise as well as an opportunity for personal growth and enjoyment. Our Music Ministry welcomes anyone who would like to join us in this most rewarding endeavor. Anyone wishing to receive more information about participating in our Music Ministry can contact me.

Sheree Cheek, Terrific Toddlers

In St. John's Toddler Class post nursery to five-years-of-age, we keep learning about the Bible as our main focus. For over 10 years now, I have been the teacher in the Toddler Class. I have worked with children for over 15 years. In the Toddler class here at St.John's I try to incorporate a variety of teaching methods and different materials. I also work for a school system on a part-time basis. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Guilford College, in Psychology and Elementary Education with a minor in Religious studies. I am currently obtaining my teaching license while in a graduate program.  I look forward to working with you and your children very soon!!

Nelly Romero, Nursery

We welcome Nelly Romero to our staff as the Infant care-giver.  Nelly has a wide-range of expertise with children from birth through elementary age.  While assigned to the infant nursery, Nelly will also serve the Toddler Class when no babies are present.  Safe Sanctuary policies dictate we have two adults in each classroom when a child is present.

Diane Jones, Youth Director

As the newest member of a great team I am excited that God has brought me to St. John's United Methodist Church. I have a degree in Christian Ministries from Asbury College and several years of experience with varied ages.  (I also have 3 boys of my own.)  I have many tried and true as well as a store house of new ideas for discipling and nurturing children and youth in their faith. It is my prayer to help this church and it's families to grow as diciples of Jesus Christ and help our youth develop a faith that sticks!
If you have questions please feel free to ask. I am in the office Monday and Thursdays from 9:30 - 1:30 and you will find me in the Lord's house on Sunday! See you in church.
